Beautiful souls allow me take you back a few years. I readily believed in the Law of Attraction. I practiced ignoring or omitting negative energy, people and things and focused solely on the positive. And, in theory it is enticing right?
Simply put, the Law of Attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on.
It is believed that regardless of age, nationality or religious belief, we are all susceptible to the laws which govern the Universe. This includes, the Law of Attraction. It is the LOA which uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialize them into reality. In basic terms, all thoughts turn into things (eventually).
However, is this the right thing to do, always?
Consider this scenario for a moment.
Someone gently whispers your name — and, you ignore it.
They say your name a little louder — and, you ignore it.
Chances are, they will say your name again, and louder, and so on.
Now, I appreciate someone saying your name isn’t always perceived as a negative. Although, what would have happened if you responded? If you addressed the person whispering your name. You would have faced it and dealt with what came next accordingly.
That’s how life is when it’s trying to get our attention.
If we ignore the pointers it sends us, that we are headed away from freedom, then it’ll send a bigger pointer, and a bigger pointer, and a bigger pointer still.
Often, the reason people are concerned to face reality is because we are inundated with ‘teachers’ who tell us that if we think about what is, then what is will just get bigger.
And I want to suggest that is partially true, but only partially.
The truth is that whatever you resist will get bigger.
If you resist current reality, then current reality will indeed get bigger in potentially ways you won’t like.
But if we just ignore it, that resistance will get caught in our subconscious. Therefore, will create more of the same, anyway. See, your conscious mind can only focus on one thing at a time.
But, your subconscious mind can have potentially thousands of beliefs.
Ignoring something won’t make it go away.
Sure, it may help you in the moment — and keep positive energy in your active space but, what if we learned instead how to address, manage and act on it. Consider the political world for a moment (can be scary, I know). In some cases you may not agree with an agenda or policy ignoring it won’t make it go away. You may want to consider using these scenarios in a place for good.
Advocate for Yourself
Advocate the need for change, the need for better.
The Law of Attraction is an amazing concept that has changed hundreds of thousands of lives through its teachings. And, one I practiced — personally. But I want to challenge you that there are some cases that challenging the negative instead of ignoring it can serve you.
- Your beliefs about money are keeping you at your current financial level.
- Beliefs about relationships are creating the state of your love life.
- Your beliefs about health are creating your current level of physical wellbeing.
All these beliefs are actively creating your reality.
With or without your conscious consent about them.
So, while you might think you are ignoring current reality, you have really just repressed it, causing it to become an active belief in your subconscious mind.
So, it’s really the opposite of what the Law of Attraction says;
ignoring reality can actually cause it to get worse, if you haven’t resolved your resistance against it.
Release your Resistance
When we take this perspective, it is in fact that our thoughts hold no power over us, unless of course — you resist them. Thoughts, once allowed, have no power to create in your reality. In a place of complete allowance, you reign over your universe. Your intentions manifest very quickly.
But, when you resist your thoughts and in turn your feelings about those thoughts, then you have made them a master over you. You then have no power, except to allow. In the Law of Attraction we give a lot of power to our thoughts. Whereas, we might suggest they really don’t have any.
It’s when you fight so hard to ignore what is, but the more you fight what is, the more what is becomes apparent to you. And the more apparent that becomes, the harder you fight it, and so the more it pushes back. Almost like a tug of war.
Eventually, the strength of that resistance overwhelms your attempts to escape reality, and you’re left with no choice but to face it. Your positive mindset was only a Band-Aid over an open wound, and life ripped that bandage off to let the underlying injury truly heal.
What has power is our intention
Our intention however, sets the universe into motion and will quickly bring your manifestation to you, as long as you do not hold resistance against it. Purposely remind yourself that there is no need to fear your thoughts.
Think of how many times have you heard the story of the person with the perfect life—great job, great partner, amazing children, big house, and loads of money but she just felt ‘empty’.
Too many to count.
The negative feelings are just showing you where you are wounded. And, you can’t heal a wound if you don’t know where it is. What you really want goes much deeper into your mind and what it is attaching to. Whether it is a relationship, more money, a better job.
You want to feel a certain way, you want healing.
Acknowledging and working with your negative emotion could be the ticket to accomplishing all that, not the ‘stuff’ your mind wants. Deal with the emotion and It won’t be shown to you anymore.
