How does fear stop you from being who you are meant to be?
What are your deepest fears?
I bet when you dig really deeply, you’ll see that your deepest fears are not what you think they are.
As Marianne Williamson writes, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
You know this to be true. You know, at a fundamental level, that you are more powerful than you allow yourself to be. You see, fear cripples you in both ways: it cripples you as a victim and it paralyzes your greatness. Fear keeps you scared of the dark and terrified of the light within you. It then becomes easier to conceal the magnitude of the power that lies within you under the veil of smallness, under the cloak of “don’t notice me,” under the curtain that shrouds your power, and instead proclaims: “I’m nothing special.” By staying small, you relieve yourself of the pursuit of feeling true freedom.
But you ARE special.
You are made up of billions of tiny cells, all vying for individual expression. You are made of stardust, each particle a uniquely divine manifestation. You are the sum of all parts of the universe in ecstatic motion. You are the only one in harmony with your soul’s signature, and if you don’t transmit that, it will never again have the opportunity to convey itself in the way that only you can.
