Have you ever thought about fear?
Fear is just one of many emotions.
All emotions are contagious, but fear is especially viral. You are either affecting or infecting with your energy. Likewise, you are either being affected or infected by your surroundings. Fear radiates at the highest level; it radiates from you and from others. If you picture fear as a bomb being dropped on a target, the target is the epicenter, but the fear makes concentric circles ripple out at an ever-widening ratio. Humans can catch fear, just as animals can smell it.
“Courage is a love affair with the unknown.”
One of the things that stops most of us is the fear of what others will think. This penetrates into our deepest recesses and keeps us at ground zero of panic and then spreads it like wildfire. In her book, The Top Five Regrets of the Dying, Bronnie Ware, a palliative nurse, found that the number one regret amongst the hospice elders in her care was that they wished they had the courage to live a life that was true to themselves, not the life others expected of them. It takes more courage to walk the path to your ecstasy, but the rewards are infinite. When you acknowledge what scares you, you honor your response to it. There is freedom that comes when you accept your fears. Live your life with your lips pressed up against your fears, courageous enough to kiss them like a lover. Once you have crossed the brave barrier, lean just a little beyond it. Relax into the fear. Get to know it. As you embrace the things that petrify you the most, you give permission for others to live into their darkest fears also. You become the affect for others to live their greatest power.
